The contents of the NHA release are below.
The Northern Horsemen’s Association congratulates Woodbine Entertainment Group on their recent agreement with the Ontario Government that ensures horse racing for 2013 and 2014. The announcement is welcome news following the months of uncertainty in the industry.
The NHA also thanks Ted McMeekin, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, his OMAFRA panel: Elmer Buchanan, John Snobelen and John Wilkinson for their tireless efforts throughout these negotiations. This first step brings hope for the sustainability of our industry, businesses, jobs and employment, in the agriculture sector across Ontario. The NHA hopes that this first step is an indication that negotiations with “B” Tracks, like Sudbury Downs, is ongoing further assuring “All” rural Ontario that horse racing will survive after March 31, 2013.
The NHA looks forward to win–win discussions in the near future ensuring racing sustainability for Sudbury Downs and North Eastern Ontario.
