Monochromatic chalked up her second straight $23,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace victory holding off fast finishing Alexachase for a 1:53 win in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day feature race at Dover Downs.
Corey Callahan left with Monchromatic and after parking to the quarter pole in :26.4 she cleared to the position of command and threw down middle splits of :55 and 1:24.1. She finished off the five foes she was facing with a :28.4 closing panel en route to posting the half-length decision over Alexachase in 1:53. Rock N Load was a lapped-on third.
Dylan Davis trains the eight-year-old daughter of Dream-Away Miss Ty for the North State Street Stable of Dover, Delaware. It was the mare’s fourth Open triumph of the meet for Monochromatic who now boasts 35 lifetime wins and purse earnings in excess of $574,000.
Meet leader Corey Callahan, who leads all 2013 harness drivers, had four wins on the card while Tim Tetrick won three and Ron Pierce had two victories.
