Eight Straight For Come Together
When you’re hot, you’re hot, and Come Together is certainly hot. The pacer, who has produced win on the lead and from off-the-pace, notched his eighth consecutive victory Tuesday at Dover Downs.
Claimed out of his sixth straight win two weeks ago, Come Together returned to the winner’s circle after a 1:51 performance with meet-leading driver Corey Callahan, who enjoyed a four-win day, in the bike.
In mid-November, Josh Green claimed the Artsplace-Pleasantville gelding for $12,500. Stepping up, the pacer won for a $15,000 price and then for a $20,000 tag in his next two outings. He again changed hands after being claimed by Kent Harper and Claim To Fame LLC. He’s now won his last two starts, both $20,000 claiming allowance tilts, for trainer Mike Hall of the Doug Lewis Stable.
This time, Albert Chief A (Allan Davis) was right there in the photo finish picture, but had to settle for second. Four Starz Q (Ross Wolfenden) was third.
Come Together finished his 2012 campaign with a record of 8-2-4 from 32 starts and purse earnings of $62,910. The 17-time winner has stashed away more than $160,000 to date.
