Jeremes Sweetheart Triples At Dover
In only her fourth start since being acquired for $27,000 from this year’s Harrisburg Mixed Sale, Jeremes Sweetheart stepped up to win Monday’s $23,000 Mares Open Handicap at Dover Downs. It was the third consecutive win for the Ontario Sires Stakes graduate.
With Ron Pierce at the controls, the four-year-old daughter of Jeremes Jet-Fox Valley Evanna took control early and was never headed after chopping out fractions of :26.1, :56 and 1:24.2. A :27.3 closing quarter was more than enough for Jeremes Sweetheart to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Shine N Shimmer in 1:52. Freedom Crossing grabbed the show dough.
Sent off as the 9-5 favourite, the Eric Ell pupil improved her lifetime record to 9-5-4 from 24 trips behind the starting gate. The career winner of $169,775 is owned by Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar, Jr. and Steve Iaquinta.
