Lea Bell Passes
Trot Insider has learned that veteran horseman A. Lea Bell of Kensington, P.E.I. passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside at the age of 76.
Bell was a former president of the Prince County Horsemen's Club and campaigned many stakes trotters along with the successful pacer Darn Good Signal.
Born in Long River, December 14, 1936, he is the son of the late Alton and Olive (Moase) Bell. Husband of Mary (Bowness) Bell. Father of Bruce (Donna) Bell and Marlene Bell. Grandfather of Erika, Morgan and Blake Bell and Ben, Emily and Daniel Heaney. Great-grandfather of Alyannah Morrisey and William Heaney. Special buddy Bear. Brother of Laura (Bill) Pidgeon and Kenneth (Rhonda) Carr. Step-son of Ruth Carr. Brother-in-law of Jean Toombs and Sterling Bowness. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brother, Eric Bell; brothers-in-law, Linwood Toombs and Wayne Bowness; and sister-in-law, Alexie Mutch.
Resting at the Davison Funeral Home in Kensington for visitation on Sunday evening from 6:30 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment in Geddie Memorial Cemetery, Spring Brook. Comrades of Lt. Col. E.W. Johnstone Branch #9 Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home Sunday evening at 6 p.m.
