The Michigan Department of Agriculture is reporting a confirmed case of Equine Herpesvirus (rhino) in a horse that raced at Sports Creek Raceway last Saturday, December 22.

The affected farm has been quarantined and horsemen are being asked to be especially vigilant regarding potential EHV symptoms (respiratory disease and neurological problems) in their horses. If horse owners suspect EHV, they should immediately contact a veterinarian.

As a result, Balmoral and Maywood Park have denied entries from Sports Creek. The Meadowlands Racetrack is denying entries of horses that have raced at Sports Creek Raceway after December 1 until further notice.
