Miss Bexley Pushes Win Streak To Five
The McClure family's ultra-consistent pacing mare Miss Bexley ended her five-year-old campaign with a five-win streak thanks in part to Saturday's score in the second race at Western Fair Raceway.
With Canada's 2012 top driver Trevor Henry in the sulky, Miss Bexley established the lead from post two in her $8,000 claiming assignment and fought off Greggs Girl and reinsman Bruce Richardson to win by half a length in 2:00 flat. Twin B Roxy and Ryan Holliday finished two and a quarter lengths behind in third.
The heavy favourite paid $2.50 to win for the fifth time in a row.
The daughter of Twin B Champ is owned by Clinton, Ont. residents Catherine, Katie and Dustin McClure. Since joining the McClure stable at the end of July 2012, Miss Bexley has finished no worse than second in 14 outings.
She wrapped up her 31-race season with a record reading 7-9-1 and a bankroll of more than $30,000.
