Series Winners Help Plante To Five-Bagger
J.R. Plante picked up a pair of live catch-drives aboard Camerons Pacing Series winners Loves A Challenge and Star Chaser en route to a five-win Saturday night at Georgian Downs.
Plante guided the Stephen Davis-trained Loves A Challenge ($13.40) from last to first to edge out leg one winner Jordon Boy and Scott Coulter in 1:56.3 in one of three $10,000 second leg divisions. He also steered repeat winner Star Chaser ($4.10) wire-to-wire to win the fastest division in 1:53.1 for trainer David Menary.
Plante picked up three more victories during the 12-race card with Astreos offspring Manvers Short Cut ($7.70) for trainer Ashley Nostadt, Stayoutofmyaffair ($3.40) for Patrick Shepherd, and Rashbec ($3.20) for Rene Allard.
The Burlington, Ont. reinsman is in the midst of a career-year having driven 394 winners to more than $2.6 million in purse earnings in 2012.
The other Camerons Pacing Series division went to the rallying Ideal Lifestyle ($6.40) and Scott Coulter in 1:57.1 for O'Brien nominee Richard Moreau.
The series is for pacers that are non-winners of $25,000 lifetime as of November 30, 2012 (no allowances). The $40,000 (added) final will be held on Monday, December 31.
