Royal Cee Cee Doubles Up At Philly
Royal Cee Cee N overcame an outside post position and wired her six foes for back-to-back wins in the $75,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace at Harrah's Philadelphia on Wednesday.
Driven by Ron Pierce, Royal Cee Cee N was able to move in one post behind the gate to the seven-hole with retiree Put On A Show scratched. When the wings of the gate swung open, the 3-5 favourite worked her to the lead over Bettor B Lucky and Yannick Gingras during a :26.4 opening panel and then cruised past middle splits of :55.4 and 1:23.1 en route to the one and a half length triumph, her 26th lifetime, in 1:51 flat. Bettor B Lucky followed in second and Ooh Bad Shark, with Andy Miller aboard, came on for third.
Royal Cee Cee N paid $3.40 to win.
Trained and owned by Mark Harder, the six-year-old daughter of Christian Cullen has hit the board in 20 of her 29 tries (11 wins). She has banked $359,700 of her $709,512 bankroll this year.
