Hoping For 'Instant' Help In Michigan
As legislation regarding the legalization of 'instant racing' currently sits in a Senate committee in the state of Michigan, both track operators and horsemen alike are hoping for the best in a horse-racing jurisdiction which needs as much of a shot in the arm as anywhere.
A report by Michigan Local News has cited Sports Creek Raceway GM Chris Locking as saying that current state law --- that does not allow instant racing, also known as 'historical racing' --- holds the track back from offering new products to its customers, which will ultimately lead to the business itself failing.
The article has quoted Locking as saying that the track's future is "pretty dim" without innovations like instant racing.
