Hat Trick For 'Button'; Six Pack For Henry
Some things just never change at The Raceway at the Western Fair District – things like Button Up capturing the feature race and things like Trevor Henry winning races in bunches. That was the case once again during Monday’s 12-race card in London, Ont.
Button Up turned a two-hole trip into a 1:55.4 triumph for Team Horner, and the veteran pacer did so as the 9-5 favourite. Mike Horner sent the nine-year-old son of Northern Luck-Better Butter to the early lead and they led the field past the quarter pole in :27.3 before releasing Sleek Hunter to the top at the mid-way point in :57.1. Sleek Hunter battled with Royal Outlook to the three-quarter pole in 1:25.3, but they were both overtaken in the final strides by Button Up who used a :29.4 closing panel to win by a length in 1:55.4. Sleek Hunter was second and Royal Outlook was third.
Mark Horner trains the OSS graduate who won for the 37th time in his career for the Sure Gain Stable of St Marys, ON. The veteran owns a 6-for-39 record this season and he’s banked more than $95,000 in the process. The classy pacer has stashed away $729,277 to date.
Trevor Henry extended his lead atop the leader board at The Raceway at the Western Fair District thanks to a six-win performance, and more notably he opened up some more daylight on the challengers chasing him for nation’s dash title.
Henry clicked with Kendal Gucci (1:58.3), Tips Girl (1:59.4), Casimir Freedom (1:58.3), Fashion Fun (2:00.1), Ram Of The Night (1:58.2) and Connors Cam Bo (1:59.3) on Monday’s card, and in doing so he pushed this season’s Canadian win total to 488.
