Victory For Versado In Dover Feature

Versado came along the passing lane to win a blanket finish in 1:50.1 in the $36,000 Preferred/Open Handicap Pace while Francyfreeshark withstood a strong stretch assault for a 1:51 triumph in the $30,000 Delaware Special, the Thursday co-features, on a chilly Nov. 29 at Dover Downs.

Yannick Gingras drove KDM Stables’ Versado to his third consecutive victory. Versado followed early leader Second Wind N and Tim Tetrick, who cut out the pace. In the deep stretch, Nob Hill High and David Miller closed with a rush to nip Second Wind N for second while This Is Wyatt and Ross Wolfenden settled for fourth.

Versado, trained by Nick Surick, registered his 14th victory this campaign for $171,210 in earnings. The Dragon Again-Beach Jenny gelding now has won $742,448 in his career.

One race later, Fancyfreeshark won for the second straight time after taking the late Summer off. Jon Roberts took the Four Starzzz Shark–Fancy Art five-year-old right to the lead holding off an early challenge from Rustys All In (Tim Tetrick). Brett Brittingham sent As Bad As Thunder three-wide at the three quarters to storm behind the winner to finish second. Sean Bier finished strongly driving Jeremys Successor to take third money.

Fancyfreeshark, owned and trained by Bobby Glassmeyer, has now won eight times this year banking $126,770 and $267,370 lifetime.
