Allard Goes Five-For-Five At Rideau
Rideau Carleton Raceway's leading trainer Rene Allard enjoyed a perfect night of racing at the Ottawa oval sending out five winner's in five starts during the Sunday card with brother Simon handling the driving duties.
The Allards scored their first wins in the fourth race with three-year-old pacing colt Metros Escape ($4.50) debuting for the brothers, and the sixth race with five-year-old pacer Uncle Goodfellow ($4.20). The duo later won the ninth race with the recently claimed six-year-old Ardyne Ace ($4.50) and completed their five-bagger with victories in the 11th race with five-year-old trotter Chips Shadow ($3.90) and 13th race with four-year-old pacer Perfekjenlmnkalfas ($3.50).
After dominating the 15-race card, Rene's local win total climbed to 212, giving his a 59-win lead over Jamie Copley in the track's trainer standings. He currently tops the Canadian standings in the win percentage (.463) category and sits second for nation-wide wins (263).
Meanwhile, Simon has won 341 races this season at Rideau to top the driver standings. He leads by 145 wins over John MacDonald. He is also among the top five drivers in Canada for wins (386) and win percentage (.382).
