Timberline Court Repeats At Northlands
Timberline Court overcame the outside post seven and prevailed in a three-horse finish against Open company in Saturday's $9,500 feature at Northlands Park.
Timberline Court and trainer-driver Gerry Hudon settled away fourth off the gate while Bettor Tuwin (Philip Giesbrecht) took up the leading role and carved out fractions of :27, :56.4 and 1:25.1. At the half-mile mark, Hudon sent the favourite first up and eventually collared the leader down the stretch with Flak Jacket (Jamie Gray) flying late onto the scene to make it into the win photo. Timberline Court prevailed in 1:55.3 by a neck, paying $3.80 to win for the second week in a row.
Hudon co-owns the seven-year-old With Held gelding with R. Lynn Kowalevsky of Airdrie, Alta. The brown pacer has won seven times in 25 outings this year to bank more than $50,000. Lifetime, he has won 28 races for earnings totalling $316,129.
In other action, trainer-driver Keith Clark tripled up on the 13-race card with Somethinsgoinon ($3.30), Western Olympian ($3.80) and Alberta Super Final runner-up Playbook ($14.60) winning their respective Saturday night assignments. Sophomore pacer Playbook upset the class-dropping Smart Shark, who finished second to Timberline Court in the Open last weekend.
