Chamberlain Trainees Triple At EPR
Ron Chamberlain made a big move up the Exhibition Park Raceway trainer standings after sending out three winners from his stable during Saturday afternoon's 10-race card.
Chamberlain's first winner of the day was Jacob, who went gate-to-wire to win the second race in 2:01 with Dale Spence driving. The victory was the 10-year-old roan gelding's 11th this year and 82nd lifetime.
Dusty Lane Buster later converted from the pocket and edged by pacesetter Yankee Dancer to win the fifth race in 2:04.1 in rein to Lenny Stokes. Chamberlain owns the 28-time winner with Janett Shanks and Gary Kierstead of Saint John, N.B.
Rosa Sharks and Spence turned backed Victory George en route to a four and a quarter length victory in 2:01.2 in the seventh race to give Chamberlain the triple and move him into third place in the track's trainer standings for the season. The four-year-old mare and barn buddy Jacob are owned by Donald Beaton of Port Hood, N.S.
Chamberlain, a resident of Quispamsis, N.B., has sent out 21 winners this year, bringing his career win total to 361.
Exhibition Park Raceway's leading driver Gilles Barrieau won four more races on the card while runner-up Mark Haig steered Jean Marie Otis trainee Xcel Panic to a 2:00.1 four and three-quarter length victory in the afternoon's feature pace.
