Cash Account Wires Open Pacers
Cash Account dominated the $12,500 Open Pace on Sunday at Fraser Downs giving the track's leading driver Jim Marino a sweep of the early Daily Double.
With the inside post advantage, Cash Account grabbed the lead and carved out fractions of :28.4, :58, and 1:26 en route to the 1:55.1 triumph over a sloppy track. He won by five and three-quarter lengths over pocket-sitter Living It Up (Serge Masse), part of the favoured entry, and Killean Cut Kid (David McKellar).
Heather Sifert owns and trains the nine-year-old D M Dilinger gelding, who paid $4.90 to win as the second choice and completed a $69 Daily Double.
In the first race, Marino guided Told Ya Fred to a nose victory in 2:00.1 over pacesetter Kg Krisp (Serge Masse), paying $30.30 for the upset. The win was trainer Cherie Paskaruk's first from 11 starts.
Marino ended the day with a win count of three, scoring later with Ty O'Neill trainee I Hear Voices.
