Another Georgia Racing, Wagering Push

Both a bill and resolution were filed Thursday, November 16 in Georgia which could lead to the introduction of legalized horse racing in the state.

A report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution states that the resolution (House Resolution 1) calls for a referendum regarding a constitutional amendment to allow pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing.

The bill (House Bill 4) explains how the whole process would work.

There have been various pushes over the years to get pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing legalized in the state. Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has made his position clear that he is not in favour of expanded gaming in the state.
