Lee Paul Passes

Former racing announcer Lee Paul of Kirkton, Ont. passed away at the age of 90 at Stratford General Hospital, on Monday, November 5, 2012.

Paul was the announcer at Woodstock Raceway for a number of years, regularly injecting a dose of humour into his race calls. Outside of harness racing, Paul was part of the popular vaudevillian comedy group The Paul Brothers and Shirley, comprised of his wife Shirley and his brother Gerald (aka "Duck").

Beloved husband of the former Shirley Holmes for 66 years. Dear brother of Gerald and wife Norma of St. Marys. Dear brother-in-law of Peggy Paul of St. Marys, Donald and Pansie Holmes of London. Sadly missed by nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Charles Paul and the former Nellie Hazelwood, a brother Reginald Paul, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law George and Helen Holmes, Dorothy and Jack Stride, Bruce and Sybil Holmes.

Leon's service and burial has taken place. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rishi Sativihari and Rev. Glenda Meakin officiating. In his memory donations to St. James Anglican Church, St. Marys or a charity of choice would be appreciated and may be arranged by calling the L. A. BALL FUNERAL CHAPEL at 519-284-1480.
