Phone Terror Tops Fraser Mares
Three-year-old pacing filly Phone Terror scored back-to-back wins at Fraser Downs in the $12,500 top class for mares on Friday night.
The multiple stakes winning filly matched last week's 1:55.3 clocking in the evening's claiming-conditioning event, winning by three lengths over Shoplifter Hanover and Hokie Spirit.
Trainer-driver Serge Masse tucked the filly into third from post two while Jans Rich Girl set up shop on the front end and carved out opening quarters of :28.2 and :58.2. Phone Terror made her move during the third panel and moved up to apply heavy pressure past the three-quarters mark of 1:26.3 before drawing clear for her ninth win of the season from 16 starts.
The Western Terror-Miss Lex filly, who is now two-for-two since returning to the West Coast from a short stay in Ontario, is owned by Melissa and Claudine Masse of Edmonton, Alta.
She paid $3.80 to win as the bettors' choice.
