Cluster Hanover Tops Day 4 In Harrisburg
The 2012 Standardbred Horse Sales Company Annual Sale continued with its fourth, and final yearling session, topped by Cluster Hanover on Thursday at the PA Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
Hip 951 Cluster Hanover was the top price tag of the fourth session, with the son of Badlands Hanover going to Jack Darling of Cambridge, ON for $95,000. Selling as part of the Hanover Shoe Farms Inc.’s consignment, Cluster Hanover is the fourth foal – and the first colt – out of the mare Clouding Over. The dam has produced the speedy fillies, Artsy Princess (1:52 - $133,041) and Clear View Hanover (1:52.1 - $69,052).
Erv Miller acting as agent purchased Hip 916 Guaranteed Lindy for $77,000 from the Preferred Equine Marketing Inc. consignment. The daughter of Conway Hall is the second foal out of Credit Guaranteed. She is out of a half-sister to Pizza Dolce (1:52.4 - $668,824).
Hip 946 Stay Up Late was purchased by Casie Coleman of Cambridge, ON for $67,000. The Artiscape colt, who was consigned by Fair Winds Farm Inc., is out of Dreamlands Jo Jo - a sister to double millionaire Holdorn Hanover (1:46.4 - $2,0070,648) and millionaire Holborn Hanover (1:49.1 - $1,095,648). Stay Up Late is a brother to Real Nice (1:51.1 - $1,180,489).
Dave Menary of Cheltenham, ON purchased Hip 1197 Palm Beach Hanover for $62,000 from the Hanover Shoe Farms Inc. consignment. The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere is the second foal out of Pilgrims Witchie. She’s the half-sister to Los Angeles (1:53.4 - $214,623), who produced this year’s Pepsi North America Cup winner Thinking Out Loud (1:47.4 - $898,638).
A total of 1,162 yearlings went through the ring over the course of the four-day event with gross sales of $33,568,500 and an average sale price of $28,889
At the 2011 sale, 1,096 select yearlings were sold for $34,167,000, for an average of $31,174; 952 mixed horses were sold for $20,928,200, an average of $21,983. Pennsylvania sires led the way with 454 select yearlings selling for $15,085,700, an average of $33,228. Overall, 2,048 horses sold for $55,095,200, an average of $26,901.
The Mixed Sale will take place on Friday and Saturday.
