Record Tied In Final Kindergarten Leg
Ma Chere Hall tied the track record for two-year-old filly trotters with her impressive 1:56 score in Friday night’s fifth and final leg of the 2012 Kindergarten Classic Series action at Vernon Downs.
Competing over a good track in Friday’s $10,000 10th event, Ma Chere Hall displayed fast foot from the start, leading at every station en route to a solid one length score for driver Corey Callahan that improved her season’s record to two victories in nine outings.
The crisp clocking tied the Vernon 1:56 standard for her age, sex and gait that was established by For A Dancer last year and it became the fastest mile by a frosh filly representative of the diagonal gait in 2012, clipping two-fifths of a second off the previous mark, set by Isabella Gal on July 26.
The bay daughter of Deweycheatumnhowe-Margarita Hall is shared in ownership by Walnut Hall Limited, Aldebaran Park, Inc. and Joe Sbrocco.
The strong showing by the career-winner of $43,851 provided both Callahan and trainer Jonas Czernyson with a double in Friday’s Kindergarten Classic Series contest.
The talented duo also received a career-fastest 1:55.4 triumph from Lauderdale in Friday’s first flight that tied the season’s swiftest mile by a colt trotter at the Downs. That mark had been established by Royalty For Life on Aug. 25. The pocket-trip tally resulted in the first pari-mutuel victory for the bay son of Deweycheatumnhowe-Dornello, who is owned by William J. Donovan.
Friday’s other series winners were the filly True Day Dream (Infinitif-Tenaciouss Victory) in 1:57.4 with trainer Dan O’Mara doing the teaming for owner Joseph E. Hess; and the colt Banco Solo (Master Glide-Silver Thatch) in 1:56 with Jeff Gregory doing the steering for trainer Kenneth Oscarsson and the Atlantic Trot Inc.
True Day Dream has posted a 7-1-2 summary after 10 starts, while Banco Solo secured his sixth score in nine official trips to the track.
Drivers O’Mara, Dan Daley, Roman Lopez and trainer Deedra Johnson were also credited with two-win performances during Friday’s 12-race card.
The top point-earners in the Kindergarten Classic Series will qualify for the $175,000 (est.) championship at Vernon next Friday night (Oct. 26).
