From Bike To Mic Wraps Up; Voting Open
Driver Travis Bowman wrapped up Grand River Raceway’s guest announcer series, From Bike To Mic, on Friday, October 5.
“The only time I get this nervous is when I’m driving one of my dad’s horses,” Bowman said in an on-air interview prior to his call of race seven.
Canbec Illusion received the majority of Bowman’s call as he travelled gate-to-wire with Maxime Velaye to record his fourth win of the season. The four-year-old trotter is trained by Ben Baillargeon for owners Leo Tourigny and Sylvain Richard. The 2:00 trip was Canbec Illusion’s third consecutive win over the Elora oval.
Bowman is the 16th guest announcer in the 2012 series.
An online poll is now open on the track’s website, with videos of all the calls.
The contenders are (in order of appearance date): Ryan Holliday, Scott Young, Bob McClure, Anthony Haughan, Jody Jamieson, James MacDonald, Dave Boughton, Rob Sparling Jr., Nick Boyd, Aaron Byron, Mike Sinclair, Carmen Auciello, Greg Gangle, Anthony MacDonald, Jen Rankin, and Travis Bowman.
Fans can vote for their favourite guest announcer until the poll closes on October 10, 2012. The top three will advance to the final round, where three pro announcers will determine the best of bunch. The winner will be crowned during the track’s final race card of 2012 on October 12.

Not a bad job really. Travis
Not a bad job really. Travis kept track of the horses' names which is the hard part. All he needs to do is string the names together with race-call cliches and he's an announcer.
