Southwind Chronicl Tops Lexington Day 2
Southwind Chronicl topped the second of five 2012 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale sessions on Wednesday evening at the Fasig-Tipton Sale Pavilion in Lexington, Kentucky with a $300,000 price tag.
Southwind Chronicl, selling as Hip 165, was purchased for $300,000 by Bill Augustine of Hammonton, New Jersey. The son of Muscle Hill is the first foal out of the Broadway Hall mare Caerphilly, who is a half-sister to No Pain No Gain ($436,080 - 1:55.3), Cosmic Crunch ($288,145 - 1:54.4), Anythings Possible ($247,131 - 1:56.1), and Ray Gun ($219,879 - 1:53.2).
Andaman Hanover, Hip 144, was purchased for $200,000 by agent Myron Bell of North Bergen, New Jersey. The Somebeachsomewhere colt is the first foal out of The Panderosa mare Anadarko Hanover, who is a half-sister to Upfront Hoosierboy ($470,074 - 1:50) and Arockin Hanover ($250,688 - 1:51.3).
Lanikai Deo, Hip 193, was purchased for $175,000 by Richard Young of Coconut Creek, Florida. The Somebeachsomewhere filly is out of the Western Ideal mare Bjs Canouan, who is a full-sister to Rocknroll Hanover ($3,069,093 - 1:48.3) and half-sibling to Red River Hanover ($1,394,626 - 1:48.4) and Royalflush Hanover ($2,182,205 - 1:49.3).
California Dreamin, Hip 198, also garnered a bid of $175,000. The Rocknroll Hanover-Sun N Sand colt was another Myron Bell purchase. Sun N Sand is a half-sister to Hall of Famer Somebeachsomewhere ($3,328,755 - 1:46.4).
Babarian, Hip 194, rounded out the top five highest priced yearlings of the day at $170,000. The Somebeachsomewhere-Righteous Renee colt, who is a half-brother to Outrageous Art ($220,349 - 1:50.2), was purchased by Jimmy Takter of East Windsor, New Jersey. The colt's dam is a $200,000-earner herself and is a half-sister to Juliets Fate ($682,094 - 1:50.1), Beach Romeo ($405,907 - 1:51.4), and Proven Lover ($394,894 - 1:49.4).
Wednesday night's session featured Hips 105 through 263. A total of 154 yearlings sold for $7,545,000 producing an average price of $48,993. Last year’s second session saw 159 yearlings go through the sales ring with the sales totalling $7,065,000 for an average of $44,443.
The sale will continue Thursday through Saturday, each night at 7 p.m.
