‘Princesse’ Prevails In Record Time
The track record for older pacing mares at West Meadows Raceway now belongs to Princesse Dorleans thanks to her 1:59.4 score in come-from-behind fashion on Sunday afternoon.
With Kirk Rogers at the helm, Princesse Dorleans watched Judges Discretion roll the group of seven through fractions of :29.3, :59.3 and 1:30. Princesse Dorleans and Rogers advanced steadily throughout the mile and then used a :29.3 closing quarter to post the win by 1-1/2 lengths over Judges Discretion. Power Maid rounded out the top three finishers.
The 1:59.4 performance took three-fifths of a second off the former track standard of 2:00.2, which was established by Albertas Dragon on October 2, 2011.
James Jeffers trains Princesse Dorleans for the Quebec partnership of Les Ecuries Dorleans Inc, Placements M Latulippe Inc and Les Ecuries D Harnois. The win was her sixth of the season and the 12th of her career. She’s banked more than $56,000 to date.
