Albert Goodine Memorial champion Kaylas Sophia defeated another male dominated field in less than ideal racing conditions on Saturday in the Winners Over Pace at Exhibition Park Raceway.

The six-year-old daughter of Apaches Fame worked her way to the lead from post seven in the $1,525 feature and never looked back once she got there. With Gilles Barrieau in tow, Kaylas Sophia romped to a five and a quarter length victory in 2:03.3 over the sloppy track rated six seconds off. Skippy (Dale Spence) and Hyperion Blue Chip (Michael Downey) finished second and third, respectively.

The favourite paid $2.50 to win.

Kayla Sophia is trained by Ron Chamberlain and owned by Dale Orr of Oak Bay, N.B. She has earned 17 top three finishes in 33 starts this year, including six wins.
