Race Against Canada’s Top Drivers
Here’s your chance to race against some of Canada’s top harness horse drivers! You won’t be driving horses though; you’ll be running against them!
The field for the 2012 edition of the Giddy Up & Gallop 5K run at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday, September 29 includes two of Canada’s leading harness drivers, Sylvain Filion and Luc Ouellette. They’ll both be lining up on foot behind the starting gate car and running in the event to show their support for the Standardbred Racetrack Chaplaincy of Canada. Combined the two have driven horses to over $6.2 million in purse earnings this year!
The Giddy Up & Gallop also features a one lap children’s run for kids 14 and under. The first 100 runners in the 5K and the first 50 runners in the Kids one lap race will each receive a free t-shirt. The races start at 3:30 p.m.
All runners will enjoy a complimentary BBQ after the run and there will also be some great entertainment courtesy of 2 Down, a band that includes trainer Carmen Auciello.
Therapists from Allied Therapy in Milton will be on site to provide pre and post race massage and consultation to any runners requiring their services.
Winners in each age category will receive a unique horseshoe medal or trophy.
Tell your friends about this unique running event and bring the whole family out to run or watch!
All of the runners and their guests are invited to stay for the live harness racing action which starts at 7:10 p.m.
