Rosecroft Meet Opens Saturday
Rosecroft’s renaissance will enter its third meet on Saturday night with a first post at 7:25 p.m. The card has 10 races with an emphasis on the younger horses, but two races of the popular eight-year-old and up handicaps.
The meet will begin with a maiden trot headed by the morning line choice Rising On Sunday, owned-trained and reined by longtime Rosecroft regular Betsy Brown. This three-year-old filly is co-owned by Ursula Ayd and is by CR Commando and out of a Go Get Lost mare. In three seasonal starts Rising On Sunday has improved dramatically and shows a third and consecutive seconds in her last two starts. In the short field she looms the one to beat.
The eight-year handicaps are Race 3 and Race 10. In the third race, H Hall is the one to beat for driver-trainer Wayne Long. The horse is owned by Gregory Burton and is capable of huge miles when in the mood, but has only made six starts on the year. Veteran Bucktown Badboy, driven by Justin Brenneman for owner-trainer 'Doc' Davison, shows a win and second earlier this year and is the major danger.
