Hiawatha Hosts End Of Season Series
Female pacers slugged it out in Sarnia on Thursday evening as Hiawatha Horse Park featured the End Of Season Claiming Series for fillies and mares.
St Lads Moxie was a wire-to-wire winner in her $2,800 division in a time of 1:55.4 for driver Kevin Wallis and owner/trainer Reg Mulholland of Leamington, ON, who lost the mare via a claim. Taylorlane Fancy was second and Northern Fling rounded out the Triactor ticket.
Twin B Shasta steamrolled over the foes she faced in the second division, winning by 4-3/4 lengths in a time of 1:55.3 for the tandem of driver Nick Steward and trainer Ray Farmer. Race favourite Inca Queen was second best, with Lady With A Weapon grabbing the show dough. The seven-year-old daughter of Million Dollar Cam is owned by Mike Kastel of Garfield Heights, OH.
Stayoutofmyaffair laid off the speed early before pouncing late and driving away to a six-length triumph in 1:56.3 for driver Gene Piroski and trainer Gord McDonnell. The six-year-old daughter of Astreos defeated Oye Vera Bizzie and Cajon Jubilee in what was her final start for owner Dr. Reg Westgarth of Amherstburg, ON, who lost the mare via the claim.
