Patty McMaster Passes, Arrangements Set

Trot Insider has learned that Patty McMaster, 57, of Cambridge, Ont. passed away on Thursday, September 6 at the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener after a battle with cancer.

Longtime partner of trainer Jean Guy (Jack) Belliveau, Patty was the sister of noted vet Dr. Dan McMaster and worked for many years around the Mohawk area as the assistant to vet Dr. Don Furness. Patty is also survived by her father, Tom, and her four nieces and nephews.

A true horsewoman, Patty's presence and smile around the Mohawk backstretch will truly be missed by all of those who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, located at 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, Ont.

I had the absolute pleasure and joy of meeting Patty and her family over 40 years ago. We became friends, and our memories are so many and so happy. She was my best friend and her loss is such a shock as well as tremendous loss to so many. Patty was the daughter of a wonderful family. I have been greatly sadened today with the news of the passing of Patti. No words could possible express my feelings for her loss nor are there any words i can say to console any of you who loved her so much. All i can hope and pray for is that time will heal all your sorrows. Paulene

My family and I, thoughts and prayers go out to my brother and Patty's family it was a great loss to you and to anyone who has ever met Patty. She was kind and caring and will not to be forgotten I hope that you will be able to over come the great sadness you are facing with the happy memories that you have shared with Patty.
