Sophomores Wrap Up Meadville Meet
Three-year-old pacers rounded out four days of racing at the Crawford County Fair in Meadville, PA on Thursday (August 23).
Serenity Breeze, a Nuclear Breeze filly, took the first race of the day, a $4,006 PASS three-year-old filly pace, for owner/trainer/ Roger Hammer and driver Chris Shaw in 2:02.2. Hammer won the second division as well, this time as a driver, guiding Shootoutthelights to the victory in a time of 2:02.4. Hammer also owns and trains the Dragon Again filly. Hammer completed the sweep of the filly pace with Paints Hall, a Blissfull Hall filly, in 2:05.4.
Next up were three $3,928 divisions of the PASS colt pace, where Roger Hammer won his 4th race in a row, this time with Nucular Enemy (Nuclear Breeze) in 2:03.1. Dalton Hanover (The Panderosa) and driver Cory Kreiser used a slow first half to their advantage, sprinting home in 59.2 to capture the second division in 2:04.0 for owners Bob and Barb Krenitsky, and trainer Bob Krenitsky, Jr.
The third and final division saw the fastest time of the meet, as Top Of The Mark and driver Steve Schoeffel went wire to wire in 1:59.4. After a slow first half in 1:02.2, Top Of The Mark paced home in :57.2. The Western Terror colt is owned by Harry Locke and trained by Mike Gillock.
Majestic Stone won the overnight non-winners trot in 2:09.2 to pick up his first lifetime win. Eric Neal drove the Majestic Son colt for trainer Randy Neal and owners Andray Farm and Lindwood Farm.
The final race of the day, a Quaker Stake three-year-old pace, went to Dealer Lauxmont (Arts Card Trick) for his first lifetime win in 31 starts. Shawn Johnston picked up the winning drive for owner Richard Williams and trainer Ted Williams.
