Sack Full Of Gold Equals Sudbury Record
Sack Full Of Gold matched Sudbury Downs' all-age trotting track record with a 1:57.2 wire-to-wire romp around the Chelmsford, Ont. half-miler on Wednesday night.
The four-year-old Jailhouse Jesse gelding left from post three in the third race with Mike MacNeill in tow and carved out fractions of :28.1, :57.4, and 1:28.1 while building up an eight length lead on his rivals. He then coasted home for the record tying triumph. Cds Eldorado closed well to finish four and a half lengths behind in second with Gerry Belanger in the sulky while pocket-sitter Start Livin and Wayne MacLean rounded out the top three finishers.
Sack Full Of Gold matched the all-age trot record set by mare Flora Dream in 2010 and equalled by gelding Victor Valiant this year on July 21.
The win was Sack Full Of Gold's third in a row for trainer Jeff Nowoselsky and owner Paula Pidutti of Sudbury, Ont.
In other streaking action, four-year-old pacing gelding Hidden Hall went wire-to-wire in the following race to earn his sixth straight win, timed in 1:57.2, for driver Dan Clements and trainer Mike Sinclair. The Modern Art gelding, who is now 12-for-25 on the year, is owned by Rosemary Shelswell of Cookstown, Ont.
Clements and Sinclair teamed up for two wins on the eight-race card.
