Trot Insider has learned Don Norris passed away peacefully at his home in Newmarket on August 1, 2012. He was 81.

Loving father of the late Sean, Scott and Stacy Norris. Survived by his sister Joan Goertzen and family. Son of the late William and Lillian Norris. He will be sadly missed by his best friend Robert E. Lee. Former husband of Judith Norris.

Don was Mendelson Films first employee and later owner of the re-named company, TelePhoto Technologies. Having served racing as a builder of race patrol and photo finish services throughout Canada since 1950, he was well known as a low-cost adjudication services innovator. Don had a passion for racing and worked at the track for his father’s humble stable as a teen.

Norris’ funeral took place Tuesday at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home in Newmarket. The funeral proceedings were facilitated by Rev. Kevin Bothwell Former (TelePhoto Vice President) and a eulogy was given by Robert Lee and Don's daughter, Stacy Norris.
