Coleman Youngest To $40 Million
At the age of 32 years old, Casie Coleman became the youngest trainer in harness racing history to surpass the $40 million career earnings mark with a pair of wins just minutes apart in the first races at Mohawk Racetrack and Yonkers Raceway on Friday night.
Coleman trainee Persistent ($2.50) won the $23,000 first race at Mohawk in 1:51.2 with Scott Zeron in the sulky while Allamerican Inca ($2.60) captured the $11,500 opener at Yonkers in 1:52.2 with George Brennan aboard to push Coleman's earnings over the milestone mark.
Mark Ford held the former record when he became the first trainer to hit the $40 million mark before turning 40 years old in 2010.
Coleman is a four-time O'Brien Award winner and has won over 1,870 races lifetime. The Cambridge, Ont. conditioner has campaigned the likes of Sportswriter, Western Silk, Idyllic, Pretty Katherine, Betterthancheddar, Michaels Power, and American Ideal to name a few.
