Sir Caviar Snaps Out Of Slump
Sir Caviar ended an uncharacteristically long draught with a front-end victory in 1:53.2 — a tick off his own track record for older geldings — in Tuesday’s Preferred Trot at The Meadows.
A 17-time winner in 2011-2012 entering the race, Sir Caviar was trying to snap a four-race slump in which he never once achieved the lead. In Tuesday’s feature, Brian Zendt sent the son of SJs Caviar-Sierra Flower K right to the front, where he downed Heza Challenger by 3-1/4 lengths. The first-over Wind Surfer was third. The victory gave Zendt 1,999 career driving wins.
Leslie Zendt trains Sir Caviar, who now boasts $435,769 in career earnings, and owns with Bill Zendt.
Dave Palone drove five winners and Mike Wilder three on the 15-race card.
