Freshman Colts Headline Alberta Card
Two-year-old pacing colts Blue Star Admiral and Premium Attraction dominated a pair of $25,000 Horizon Pace divisions featured on Sunday afternoon at Alberta Downs.
Blue Star Admiral blazed to a 1:55.4 victory in the second division with Bill Tainsh Jr. aboard for trainer Glenn Lutz and owners William and Dianne Neish of High River, Alta.
The Camystic-Movin Uptown colt established the lead from post two and never looked back as he rolled past panels of :27.3, :56.2 and 1:25.3 en route to the one and a half length tally, his third in four career starts and fastest yet. The 1-2 favourite paid $3 in defeating Tip Top Tap (Rod Hennessy) and Western Shoot Out (Ryan Grundy).
Premium Attraction won the first division, one race earlier, in 1:57.4 for Kelly Hoerdt, who trains, drives and co-owns with fellow Beaumont, Alta. resident Blair Corbeil.
With the inside post advantage, the Clintons Cigar-Themaneattacktion colt fired to command and carved out fractions of :29.3, 1:00, 1:30 before extending his leading margin to five lengths. Following up a schooling win, the 6-1 shot returned $15.90 to his backers. Favourite Beren Hanover (Keith Clark) was second best and Aerial Time (John Chappell) rounded out the top three finishers.
