Aperfectyankee Lowers Stakes Record
Three Tompkins-Geers Stakes divisions for two-year-old trotting colts and three divisions for two-year old trotting fillies highlighted the nine-race card on Thursday night at Tioga Downs.
Aperfectyankee (Jim Oscarsson) established a new stakes record for two-year old trotting colts in the second division with a wire-to-wire effort in 1:56.4. The son of Yankee Glide-Asixpakfromperfect cut through fractions of :29.1, :59.2 and 1:27.4 before easing away from the field a winner in his second lifetime start.
Jim Oscarsson owns and trains Aperfectyankee who was purchased for $55,000 as a yearling.
Highlighting the divisions for two-year old trotting fillies was True Day Dream from the locally-based Dan O’Mara Stable. O’Mara wasted no time getting the filly to the front past an opening quarter in 29.4 and then cut through fractions of 59.2 and 1:27.3 before dismissing the rest of the field with a final panel of :29.1 to win in 1:56.4.
True Day Dream was a bargain $3,200 yearling purchase for Joe Hess of New Milford, NJ and posts a record of 1-1-1 in three seasonal starts good for more than $18,000 in earnings.
Also capturing divisions of Tompkins-Geers in the two-year-old colt and gelding trot divisions were Boffin (Charlie Norris - 1:57.4) and Show Ticket (Charlie Norris - 1:57.1). The other divisions for the two-year-old fillies went to Dewey Lane (Jim Morrill, Jr. - 1:56.4) and Bull Spreader (Jim Morrill, Jr. - 1:59.4).
