Bolero Talula Misses Track Mark At Pompano

Bolero Talula nearly tied a 17-year-old track record at the Isle Pompano Park Friday as the three-year-old pacing filly scored a lifetime best record of 1:52.3 in winning the first race.

Bolero Talula just missed tying the track record of 1:52.2 set by Miss Easy in winning the Breeders Crown at Pompano Park in 1991.

Kevin Wallis sent the daughter of Grinfromeartoear right to the lead and after the opening quarter mile in :27.2, was immediately challenge on the outside by Brissonte Hanover and driver Joe Pavia, Jr. That caused Wallis to step on the gas and Bolero Talula responded, taking the field past the half mile in :55.2 and the three-quarters in 1:23.3.

Then in the stretch drive Bolero Talula was able to hold the field at bay, winning by one length over Chapsboots N Spurs (Wally Hennessey) and Always (Bruce Ranger).

It was the second straight win for Bolero Talula and fifth win on the year. Kevin Wallis of Maidstone, Ontario owns Bolero Talula and Kevin's wife, Linda, trains her.
