Rookies Impress In PASS
The Pennsylvania Fair Circuit headed east to Dauphin County, near Harrisburg, for Sire Stake racing at the Gratz Fairgrounds. Two-year-olds were featured on Saturday.
Colt trotters began the day, and newcomer Broadway Setup (Broadway Hall) won his fair debut, scoring in 2:03.4 for owner, trainer, and driver Chris Offutt.
In the second of four divisions, Montour County, trained by John McMullen, was a 2:07.1 winner. The Sierra Kosmos gelding was driven by Bryce Truitt, who also bred Montour County before selling him to owners John and Michelle McMullen.
The third division was captured by Prince Lauxmont, trained and reined by Wayne Long. The gelded son of Supernatural is now 2-for-2 on the fair circuit after winning in 2:06.3, a lifetime best. Long co-owns with Joyce Lineweaver.
The final colt trot was won by Bsmaximummoondream, a son of Bedford County. Owned by Dave and Sue Brickell, Bsmaximummoondream trotted in 2:05.1 for his third victory in five starts. Dave Brickell trains and was in the bike.
In the first division of the filly trot, Tommys Cover Girl was a winner for owner/driver Jim Dodson. The Tom Ridge filly trotted in 2:06.2 for her first career win. Ron Lineweaver earned the training win.
Classical Love (Classic Photo) captured the second split in 2:09 for driver Eric Neal. Bill Kreutzer trains and co-owns with Eileen Lineweaver.
In the final division, Lady Broadway gave the Truitt/McMullen tandem their second victory of the day. A Broadway Hall filly, Lady Broadway won in 2:07.2 for her third win in five seasonal starts.
Filly pacers were up next, and Powerful Pulse was a winner in the first group for owner Richard Williams and trainer Ted Williams. The Quik Pulse Mindale filly paced in 2:03.4 with Brady Brown at the lines.
In the second division, Real Leggy, catch-driven by Long, won her career debut with an impressive 2:02.1 tally. A Real Desire filly, Real Leggy is owned by Theresa Pavlik and David Kinee, while Doug Sweigart picked up the training win.
The last filly pacing split was won by Amanda Beinhauer’s In A Better Place, a 2:05.2 winner. It was the first career victory for the Christian Cullen filly, trained by Jason Shaw and driven by Chris Shaw.
Colt pacers were featured in the day’s final three events, and Jungle Of Terror went wire-to-wire in the first split, pacing in 2:02.3. Stephen Lander and Kathy Schoeffel own the winner, a son of Western Terror. Steve Schoeffel trains and was in the bike.
In the second division, Captain Kubota was an easy winner for driver Brady Brown and trainer Mike Gillock. The Mcardle gelding paced in 2:00.3. Rich Gillock and Jeff Fleming own Captain Kubota.
In the final division, Falcons Breeze (Nuclear Breeze) paced in 2:01.3 for his third career win. Todd Schadel drove for owner/trainer Roger Hammer.
Racing at the Gratz Fairgrounds continues on Sunday, with 11 heats beginning at 1 p.m.
