Kenna Lyn One Of Six For Page
Friday the 13th certainly wasn’t unlucky for Kenna Lyn as she sailed to victory in the $15,000 Open Pace for fillies and mares at Scioto Downs.
Her winning time for driver Chris Page was 1:53.4. The five-year-old daughter of Western Hanover paid $11.60 to win. Idol was second for driver Kyle Ater while J.D. Wengerd steered Mi Amada to a third-place finish.
The win was the third in eight starts this season for Kenna Lyn, who is trained by Virgil Morgan Jr. for owners Tamara Lynn and William Eltzroth of Canal Winchester, Ohio.
As the 10-horse field went away from the Mike Woebkenberg starting gate, Mi Amada had the early speed and got the call at the opening quarter in a blistering :26. . Then she yielded to Page and Kenna Lyn before the half, which was reached in :57.1. Ater had the 4-5 favourite Idol in gear on the outside, but couldn’t clear to the front. When Kenna Lyn rebuffed her challenge, she was home free and won by two and a half lengths. Idol edged Mi Amada for second.
Kenna Lyn was one of six winning drives on the evening for Page.
