Promising Youngster Euthanized
Trot Insider has learned that two-year-old pacing colt Moe Rocks suffered a catastrophic injury following his Saturday morning qualifier at Mohawk Racetrack.
After winning his eighth race qualifier, Moe Rocks pulled up lame shortly after the wire. Trainer Ron Adams told Trot Insider that the Rocknroll Hanover-Armbro Maureen colt was rushed to Milton Equine Hospital where he was diagnosed with a shattered pastern and the break was determined to be non-repairable by the surgeons.
Moe Rocks, who had posted back-to-back qualifying wins in 1:57.1 and 1:57.3 at Mohawk, is a full-brother to Open mare and Mohawk track record holder Maureen Rocks and half-sibling to two other sub-1:50 pacers, French Panicure ($997,902) and Grin Some More ($607,146). He was a $50,000 yearling purchased at the 2011 Lexington Selected Sale by Dale Towle of Leamington, Ont. and Ronald Haskell of Windsor, Ont.
"I would like to thank the Woodbine and Milton Equine staff for their efforts during this tragic time," said Adams.

Condolences to the connections.I was there Saturday and watched him qualify upstairs on second floor beside one of the owners. Moe Rock looked like he was going to be a star. RIP.... Might I add Kudo's to Doug McNair who stood with the horse (even after the vet came out) and never left his side until Moe walked onto trailer, that was truly a class act by him as well.
