Mayors Meet In Support Of Racinos, Racing

Late last week, mayors from various Ontario jurisdictions which are home to money-making racinos met with the objective of keeping the horse-racing/racino industry viable in their locales.

According to a story by Bullet News, an initial, broader group of mayors had met in Milton on Thursday, June 21.

The report explains that the initial group of mayors had consisted of all mayors from Ontario municipalities that host slots, charity casinos and for-profit casinos.

The group of mayors from racino jurisdictions then met to solely and particularly represent the interests of racinos/horse racing.

The report states that even though the racino mayors held that common distinction, it was challenging to find common ground.

“We tried to get a strategy among the mayors, but everybody’s situation is a little different,” the report quoted Jim Ginn as saying. Ginn is the mayor of the Municipality of Central Huron, which is home to Clinton Racetrack Slots.

Mr Ginn, If the OLG reps you met with made you feel "confident" your revenues were going to remain the same, "god bless you" but I wouldn't be drinking their Kool-aid,if offered !! And by the way, remember horseman are voters and residents in your jurisdiction,so perhaps the next time you meet with the OLG you might want to consider their plight and put in a good word.

Does Mayor Ginn know the difference between a racetrack and a casino any horseman who lives near Clinton should drop in and explain OLG is keeping the casino but the racing industry and jobs are dead. Mayor Ginn needs to tell the OLG that his Clinton includes money for racing not just a casino.
