Attention Canadian Yearling Sale Consignors
A meeting of consignors of the 2012 Canadian Yearling Sale will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the Delta Meadowvale Hotel, located at 6750 Mississauga Road, Mississauga, Ont.
The Liberal government has appointed former cabinet ministers Elmer Buchanan, John Snobelen and John Wilkinson to consult with the horse racing industry. This panel will recommend to government how the transition funding will be used to help the horse racing industry transition from the Slots at Racetracks program to a more sustainable, self-sufficient model, which includes the Ontario Sires Stakes program.
Following the consultation period, the Panel expects to provide recommendations in a final report to government by late summer.
The Sales Committee is seeking feedback from consignors regarding the date of the 2012 Canadian Yearling Sale currently scheduled for September 15 and 16. Due to the uncertainty of when the government will release their decision, the possibility of moving the Canadian Yearling Sale to a date in October is being considered.
After the consignor meeting takes place, the Sales Committee will reconvene, consider all input and finalize the sale date. Once finalized, the date of the sale will be announced
Your feedback is important. Please make every effort to attend this meeting.
I think the breeding boys at
I think the breeding boys at the meeting should do well. People like John S. have been around horses forever, and this meeting could be the start of the Liberals crumbling on the SAR fiasco.
Call me crazy, but the battle will be won vs the Liberals.
On Sunday at the Plate at WO, I went in with a sign to draw attention, but had it confiscated.I still like Nick Eaves and think he knows who to back.
His speech at the Plate Draw for PP was very riveting.
You are so completely right,
You are so completely right, Terry. I think if we looked at our arrangement with the Gov't as a 'marriage' rather than a 'partnership' ... the 'split' could be seen more clearly. The Gov't is lying, cheating, has taken another 'partner' - and just wants rid of its first spouse. They represent the 'filthiest' of partners, and we have continued to plead with them.
Someone BIG has done something terribly WRONG here (think dirty deals, brides, payoffs). EVERYONE is asking the same question - "WHY are they doing this???" - and I think there is a SCANDAL in the bushes. They are 'scared to death' about SOMETHING ... and behaving in a life-or-death manner. It is PERSONAL. We nned the VERY BEST of Private Investigators for this one. REMEMBER WATERGATE???
I strongly disagree with
I strongly disagree with Terry Lantz, are you forgetting it was Mike Harris and the conservatives who gave us the slots @ racetracks.
I do agree with him however about the NDP, posturing, and BS is all we got from them!
Ralph, having the NDP or PC's
Ralph, having the NDP or PC's win that Kitchener-Waterloo by-election is ever so important. But I'd like to ask everyone involved.....what has the NDP and the PC's done for us? I have the answer......nothing, actually it's "ABSOLUTELY" nothing.
Excellent opportunity for
Excellent opportunity for Consignors to mitigate impending losses. Perhaps someone articulate - AND POLITICALLY ASTUTE - could be chosen as a primary spokesperson ... someone like Ted Smith or Dr. John Hayes or Glenn Brown or any number of people that could adequately get the message across (on film) THAT THERE IS NO WAY THE GOVERNMENT CAN DECIMATE AN INDUSTRY ... BE DISHONEST WITH A BUSINESS PARTNER ... MORTALLY WOUND THE LIVELIHOOD, CAREER AND ART FORM OF 10'S OF 1,000'S OF GOOD PEOPLE - BY CHEATING, LYING AND CASTIGATION ... and then ask an Industry bleeding-to-death WHAT BALE OF HAY WOULD WE BE THANKFUL FOR???
I hope SOMEONE (eventually) takes the money ... and uses $10,000,000 or so to ensure the BIGGEST NDP win ever in Kitchener-Waterloo. For 'selling a career for personal gain' - 1 X for PCs- and a CLEAR message to the NDPs that we DO mean business ... AND TO GET IT RIGHT IN A NON-CONFIDENCE VOTE ... and QUICKLY.
Isn't it sad that breeders in
Isn't it sad that breeders in the most successfull horse industry in the world, have to meet and decide the fate and date of their beautiful yearlings? God help you people that caused this catastrophie! Time to have a major enquiry in to this government. How did Britain do it? We can, some how. Is there anyone so far appointed, astute enough to take this challenge on? May be we, the horsemen/horsewomen should appoint our own chosen representative of this sport and livelehood of 60,000 hard working , specialiazed, people to do the dirty and expensive work to save us all.
