Bill Van Katwyk Hospitalized

A scary incident on Saturday night at Kawartha Downs has left longtime Peterborough-based horseman Bill Van Katwyk in hospital.

In Saturday's first race, Van Katwyk was finishing the mile with trotter Vinny Espanoza when he suffered a heart attack while pulling up the horse. Van Katwyk, 66, required use of a defibrillator and was taken to hospital in Peterborough before being transported to Toronto where they reportedly induced a coma. The horse got loose and eventually was collared.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Bill Van Katwyk a full recovery.
