Federal Funding For Harness Racing

Canadian harness racing will be receiving funding from the federal government to help improve its product at some of the country's most popular tracks.

According to a report on the CBC, the Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission (MPHRC) has announced that the federal government will be providing funding for photo finish equipment at harness racing tracks in the Atlantic provinces and equipment to stream live races online.

The government will be providing $450,000 in funding while each province will also be contributing $30,000 to cover the costs of the technological upgrades.

Wow!!!!!! The federal government is giving 30 grand to tracks to upgrade equipment. Is Bev Oda going to stay at a Red Roof Inn and drive herself around next time she's off "representing" us in some foreign country? That would cover the cost of one tracks' upgrades. Let them eat cake.

CONGRATS EAST COAST....Your racing partners aren't running around with blind bridles like the LIBERALS here in Ontario....

Unfortunately at this time we in the province of Ontario do not have this kind of attitude at Queen's Park. The people of Ontario are witnessing jobs fleeing this province every month. An election is necessary to get some fresh thinking into the governance of this province. sincerely Bruce T. Winning

and as soon as the maritimes' TAKEOUT is lowered,,,more bettors across the land will partake.

Some governments have faith in harness racing. PEI supports the industry regardless of the party in power. It is part of the fabric of life here and a significant contibutor to both the agriculture and tourism sectors. We have our own version of SAR here and have our detractors too but Red Shores at Charlottetown , run by the Atlantic Lotto could show the OLG a thing or two about how to blend profit with community service.
