Mark It On Ice Wires Open Pacers
Mark It On Ice won the $10,000 Open Pace in a season's-best 1:56 over a sloppy track to reach the $100,000 earnings mark at Buffalo Raceway Saturday night (June 9).
The win was the sixth this season for Mark It On Ice, who had finished second or third in his last five races.
Mark It On Ice ($4.90), the favourite in the race, left from post two in the field of seven with John Cummings Jr. in the bike and made every pole a winning one, setting fractions of :28, :56.4 and 1:26.3. A :29.2 last quarter-mile put the winner a neck in front of second place finisher Lake Shark (Ray Fisher, Jr.) at the finish line. Goodnight Goodluck (Kevin Cummings) came in third.
The five-year-old Shark St Partners gelding is trained by Hoye Rickert for owners C. Hoye and Pauline Rickert of Fredonia, Pennsylvania.
