Mare Sedated, Saved After Traffic Accident
It is reported that a standardbred suffered a concussion and laceration after an incident Monday which saw a mare have to be extricated from an overturned trailer by firefighters.
The Ohio incident took place during the morning hours, before 9:00. The mare, a three-year-old that had to be sedated before she was saved, is reported to have recuperated, at least for a short time, at the Valley View Animal Hospital in Dover, according to an article by the Times Reporter.
The article has cited Uhrichsville Fire Chief Art Tripp as saying that the trailer was found loose from its tow vehicle, and was on its side, with the front end over a guardrail, dangling above a steep embankment.
The article explains that after the mare was sedated, firefighters used an air chisel, a K-12 steel cutting, cut-off saw and hydraulic cutters to open the front and complete the extrication.
