Anderlecht Wires 'Friendship' Foes
Anderlecht led all the way to win the lone $12,000 fourth leg division of the Friendship Pacing Series on Saturday at Kawartha Downs over three Randy Van Meer
trainees.
The seven-year-old son of Cams Card Shark, conditioned by Igor Vrablic and driven by Gord Brown, left from post position No. 1 and carved out fractions of :27, :56.2, and 1:24.3 en route to a 1:52 triumph by two and a half lengths. Straight Shooting, Amazon Art and Power Off finished second through fourth for Van Meer.
Anderlecht was making just his second start in the series. Undefeated in the three previous legs, Bay Of Sharks sat out on Saturday.
The winner returned $4.70 as the bettors' second choice to Amazon Art.
Anderlecht is owned by Black Road Stable of Cambridge, Ont. and Point Zero Seven Racing of Burlington, Ont. He now boasts 24 wins on his lifetime record and $669,425 in purse earnings.
The series, which featured alternating legs at Georgian Downs and Kawartha in May, is for three-year-olds and up that are non-winners of $75,000 in 2011. The series will wrap up back at Georgian next Saturday, June 2 with a $40,000 (added) final.
