Ervin Hanover Sharpens In Friday Qualifier
Tuning up for a test at The Meadowlands next week, Canadian record holder Ervin Hanover soared over the off track at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, Nov. 6 to post the session's fastest qualifying mile.
Sent to the front of the field of five by driver Louis-Philippe Roy, Ervin Hanover cleared returning stablemate Bruno No No No (Doug McNair) heading into the first turn and made every call a winning one from there. Powering through panels of :27.3, :56.3 and 1:24.3 over the track listed as 'good', Ervin Hanover closed in :26.2 to trip the timer in 1:50.2. Bruno No No No stayed close, finising second on the Roy helmet on the wire and charted 1-1/2 lengths back.
Ervin Hanover (Captaintreacherous-Eloquent Grace) is trained by Dave Menary for owner Pollack Racing LLC of Venetia, Pa. The six-year-old stallion sports a mark of 1:46.2, a summary of 32-8-11 from 87 starts and nearly $2 million in earnings. He's pointed for the FanDuel Open Pace next Saturday (Nov. 14) at The Meadowlands.
