Windemere Skye Beats Older Mares To Go 27 Unbeaten
Windemere Skye, having completed a perfect sophomore stakes campaign, put her undefeated record on the line against open distaff company in the $6,350 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace and drubbed her four older rivals on Thursday, Oct. 29 at Charlottetown Driving Park.
The three-year-old daughter of Somewhere Fancy-Howmac Missy dominated the feature with Marc Campbell in the driver's seat for trainer Earl Watts. Windemere Skye ($2.50) took command from the rail and carved out fractions of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:25.4 before drawing away by 5-3/4 lengths in 1:54.2. Brokeandoutofgas (Gilles Barrieau), a Preferred winner a week ago, finished second, with Badgirl Bridgette (Jason Hughes) third.
The victory moves Windemere Skye within one win of the modern-day pacing record of 28 consecutive victories, shared by Cam Fella and Firms Phantom.
Windemere Skye is owned by Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I. and Matt Burke of Stratford, P.EI. Through 27 career wins in as many starts, including two Atlantic Breeders Crown championships, she has earned $262,993.

Windemere Farms and Kyle Williams of Coleman, P.E.I. share ownership of the winner.
Fight Song extended his own streak of victories over the Island's top trotters as the son of Kadabra-Fortunes Of Fables won the $6,050 Open Handicap Trot. He remained wide through the :28.4 first quarter to assume control for Jason Hughes, rattled off middle panels of :59.2 and 1:29, and defended from West River Jet (Ken Arsenault) for a half-length victory in 1:57.1. Rina Labelle (Marc Campbell) finished third.

The seven-year-old gelding, trained by Ashley Gamester and owned by Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I., has won 42 of 150 lifetime starts and earned $297,148. He paid $2.10 to win.
