Delaney Hanover Retired

Grade 1 stakes winner Delaney Hanover, the fastest three-year-old trotting filly of 2025 and a three-time Breeders Crown finalist, has been retired from racing.

Co-owner Wiesman Farms announced the four-year-old trotting mare's retirement on Tuesday, Oct. 27 and reported she is scheduled to be bred to Chapter Seven.

Delaney Hanover debuted as a freshman in August 2024 with back-to-back wins in a Kindergarten Classic leg and New Jersey Classic elimination. She was a runner-up in the New Jersey Classic final and in a Breeders Crown elimination that year.

As a three-year-old, the daughter of world champion Muscle Hill out of the Cantab Hall mare Danielle Hanover rose to prominence with a reputation for devastating speed of her own. A Hambletonian Oaks elimination winner, she was third in the final and finished a close second in the Grade 1 Delmonica Hanover to eventual U.S. divisional champion Yo Tillie in a stakes and track record mile at Pocono Downs. Off victories in the New Jersey Classic Consolation and a division of the Bluegrass Stakes, she blazed to a new lifetime mark of 1:50.1 in the Grade 1 Kentucky Filly Futurity – the fastest divisional time of 2025 and just two-fifths of a second off the world record. She set a divisional track record of 1:51 in a Breeders Crown elimination at Woodbine Mohawk Park and capped off her stellar sophomore campaign with five wins, a second and two thirds in 11 starts for more than $620,000 in seasonal earnings.

After finishing third in this year’s Hambletonian Maturity, she could not repeat her sophomore form, and the decision was made to retire her following the Breeders Crown Mares Trot this past weekend.

Bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, Delaney Hanover retires with career earnings of $876,462 with a record reading 7-3-4 from 26 starts. She was trained by Lucas Wallin and owned by Wiesman Farms of Middle River, Maryland, along with Shermay Stables of Chester, New Jersey and Wallin Racing Stable of New Egypt, New Jersey.
